In fact, Asbury Partners blew it big time. When they got their deal and
every developer around came through AP, they chased them away with
ridiculous demands. Now, the market has changed, things have changed,
and the projects that are going are remnants from the past.
deja vu all over again?
I
Asbury Park has one real functional Theater left, the Paramount.
And that is deteriorating due to neglect everyday since Asbury
Partners only engages in painting and landscaping of any building
they own.
The Paramount is one of the few remaining Movie Palace type theaters
in the country.
Breaks my heart to see it being damaged due to neglect and improper
treatment by Asbury Partners who have no background in historic
preservation.
Do they have a desire for historic preservation of the Paramount? That's
the question I wonder.

they put more effort into saving the old mini golf booth at 2nd ave. As
crooked as it is and almost done, they had the smarts to save it with
some nice new t-11 wood. An artist had to do those cuts to fit.
Just and early am bike ride the other day.
Must be a cafra thing

Historic preservation of the Paramount/Convention Hall is REQUIRED. The
building is a registered National historic site. The redevelopment
agreement requires it to be maintained and restored to the standards
set forth by the Secretary of the Interior.

Mayor Saunders said: ''I'm willing to work with anyone. I'd work with
Daffy Duck. The first ones that come in and show me the money I can
work with.''
The Entire article follows, and the Times, at that time, summed it
all up.
