While I do not yet have a dog...I am a pooch lover. I have seen many dog
park success stories on Animal Planet and such. There are many wonderful
responsible pet owners in town who would care for the park as well .. our
pets deserve that off leash time!!!
Thanks for the support of this. I'm going to put some time into researching the
possibilities
of getting a dog park going in town.

While I do not have a dog, a dog run is worth considering, as long as it
addresses hiring someone to clean up the doggie mess as well as have City
Code Enforcement patrol surrounding area and summons owners whose dogs have
no leash and/or license as well as not scooping their own canine's poop.
In my experience, dog parks are pretty self policing.
I do think we have a problem with people not picking up after there dogs
though. Liberty
Square Park is filled with poo at the moment.

I agree, hopefully it's just
If the inside of the dog run is self-policed, then okay.
Yet, unleashed dogs walking to and from the dog run as well as
unlicensed and unvacinated ones should be strictly enforced.
If these concerns are addressed, I am all for letting the doggies
socialize.

So, here's a silly little question. How does one go about getting a city to
have a dog park?
I'll have to research it a bit. I imagine it involves proposing it to the city
council.

What a great question, so calming to think about! A doggie park
would be so much fun to visit, just to be able to walk with your dog
among other dog owners. That would give a nice touch to this town.

Sad, the people buying those condos can't have their dogs. At the
condo I have in Florida I am only able to keep a dog under 20lbs.
Buy a house and you can have all you want. In NYC, in parks that do not
have a dog
