I've been investigating using rsync to backup my Astlinux box on a regular
schedule from a remote client. I have it working from my Apple Mac with no

The changes under "Using Runnix" are good and would have, I think,
saved me some time. Very good.
I don't recall the old wording under "Using UnionFS" to be able to
pick out the changes, so no comment on those.

Clara,
Both the "astfw" and "arno" firewalls are shell scripts used to more
easily configure iptables. Kristian wrote astfw for astlinux.
Arno's firewall (written by Arno van Amersfoort) is much more
configurable, and has been Darrick's choice for some time.
Take a look at /stat/etc/arno-ip
Thanks for the prompt replies.

I've updated some of the documentation at http://www.astlinux.org
Please review "Using Runnix" and "Using UnionFS".
Some additional changes are needed on the "New Installation" page.

Clara,
I was the one who originally brought Arno's firewall into Astlinux a few
years ago. It's a firewall that I've been using for several years.

Lonnie,
Just a question, what's the difference between Arno's Firewall and Astfw
Firewall.

I am looking at adding a basic arno firewall gui in altweb.
I would like to survey the arno firewall users what firewall.conf
variables they use, beyond the defaults.
Just the variables used, no configuration settings necessary.
Please respond with an off-list email to me.
Thanks,
Lonnie
