Chris,
Starting in AstLinux 1.0.1 all drives will show up as /dev/sd[a-h], that is the
newer, better approach. The older IDE /dev/hda approach is depreciated in the
kernel.

Does this kernel option then make the drives show up as "/dev/hda" instead
of "/dev/sda"?
I had to make a kernel option change to get astlinux to run on my Jetway
dual core boards if the SATA controller was turned off on the board.. I
noticed the difference being how the drives were referenced..
One test, on your working 0.7 HP Thin client install, do a "lspci -vvv" and see
if you have something like:
--
00:0e.0 IDE interface: ALi Corporation M5229 IDE (rev c5) (prog-if fa)

that is the issue.
Adding kernel support CONFIG_PATA_ALI=y in 1.0.1 fixed the problem.
If you have some other c
Thanks for the heads up.
Do you believe this applies to ALL the HP thin clients, 5700, 5710, 5720
and the 55xx versions?
I do know that there are some significant differences in other areas
between the HP's. Video comes to mind.
I have several different models available if further testing is nee
Dear users with HP Thin Clients like the T5710...
With Brian's help, we were able to identify and fix the boot problem related to
recognizing the IDE hardware in the T5710 with AstLinux 1.0.0 . The fix will
be available when AstLinux 1.0.1 is released, sometime in January.
Until then, HP Thin
As the HP T57XX units I use for deployment (approx 15 or so total) are thin
clients, they have VGA controllers and the geni586 is the easiest to use.
The T5710 have USB 2.0 and the Apple USB-Ethernet adapter for the MacBookAir
works nicely as a 2nd ethernet port.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for the useful info. Hopefully we can find the differences in the
kernel configs.
BTW, what is your AstLinux image of choice? geni586 or geni586-serial ?

Here's a snip from the boot sequence in /var/log/messages from another
identical (hardware wise except for 512 MB memory) T5710 running 0.7.9:
Nov 10 15:00:19 pbx-aa user.info kernel: Uniform Multi-Platform E-IDE driver

Hi Brian,
I more carefully read your post here and I see you tried a fresh install, so
this is not a runnix mismatch issue.
No doubt this is a kernel config issue not detecting your SSD drive.
At the runnix# prompt your SSD is not mounted, correct?
Using 0.7, can your provide a snippet of log
Did you upgrade RUNNIX to 0.4 as per the 0.7 -> 1.0 instructions?

I'm having some issues getting 1.0 working on a T5710 ..
The T5710 has an internal 512MB SSD and 256MB memory.
All works fine using 0.7.9 (or any 0.7.x for that matter)
After installing 1.0, boot sequence fails with "Runnix: Astlinux medium not
found."
I have tried two different install metho
