I just know there must be something in the repo that will convert my
tree of FLACs to a tree of MP3s and retain the tagging and perhaps even
artwork but I'm scoobied[1] if I know what it is. Please could someone

This broke for me with the most recent kernel, too. Turns out the mceusb
driver is now in the kernel. To get this to work, I needed to upgrade
from 0.87 to O.9 lirc and remove the lirc-kmdl.
