It's been a while since I actually worked with a hard drive (beyond just using it), but if things haven't changed, one thing to consider is that you shouldn't load up your hard drive all the way to its full capacity. It has to do with the hard drive becoming less efficient when the entire drive

That's a lot of replies in a short period of time -- and, yes, I left out (or assumed) some critical information. My fault there. 1. I am an Apple user (OS 10.4.3). So, EAC is not an option for me. 2. Therefore, I rip using iTunes and Apple Lossless. Yes, I've heard some criticism, here

As long as you rip to Apple Lossless using a relatively new version of iTunes you should be OK. There was once a problem with Lossless with a old version of iTunes in that it was a bit screwed and wasn't actually lossless, and I admit I have no other reason for posting this piece of information
