I would like to use the simplest path possible, so I was going to try
using the SB2 only first and see what happens.
I am running the SB3 straight into my amp using some 10db Rothwell
attenuators to reduce the signal down. It works well, but I also use
the secondary volume control (or preamp
I like all kinds of music really depending on my mood. I'd probably be
listening to hiphop, dnb, jungle mostly but i'd like to be able to
listen to good death metal. And I love my bass =D.

In the web interface, go to the player's settings. Click on Audio and
set Preamp Volume Control to 63.0. I had to stop the audio stream and
start it again for the muting to take effect (pause twice). (Other

What is the difference to entering a value of 63 and just putting the

One thing I'd say about the in ear canal type (shure etc) is that they
take some getting used to in terms of comfort! Now I'm in danger of

My original plan was to selectively rip. With hard drive prices falling
so fast, I kept expanding my parameters as to what I would rip. Now,
unless its in the car (for a long road trip) I very rarely play an

SB2 is the same. Transporter BTW is faster than that on its
capacitor-coupled interface, and slower on the transformer-coupled
interface, but I don't have the figures in front of me at the moment.

Sure. The transformer-coupled interface conforms to the IEC spec, and
uses a 75ohm BNC. This is generally preferred for high-end gear because

Man I hate to embarass myself with posts like this but where everyone
seems to see 'player's settings' in the web interface I see no such
option. I'm in SlimServer 6.3.1.
Would someone mind guiding us less astute to the 'player's settings'

Thanks in advance

I just did this and as in the post above noticed a lowered noise floor
and less harshness all around. Great tip.
