Yup, I agree with all of this. And configuration for anything to do with
the display should all be performed from one screen or section (and
possibly sub-screens), including the screensavers. MusicInfo is
definitely the place to start.
I'd like to see a facility to stop any display segment from

Possibly, but I have other stero equipment (both digital and analog)
hooked up elswhere and no problems and it doesn't happen when I plug
the power in, but rather when I plug the ethernet cable in and it
connects to slimserver.

The other option is to record the convoluted wav and than play it trough
your SB3 as you normally would.
