Dear Slim D Support.
As an Engineer and audiophil, I do a lot of tests and development of
home made DAC's
As you properly know a lot of CD's are not recorded or made in absolute
phase +. Acctualy a lot of Cd's , Yes even different tracks on the same
CD are not recorded with same absolute

Dorkus,
Well said. I would like to add that usually (consumer level products in
mind) designs are constrained in both cost and time to market. The item

When I first got my Transporter, I briefly reported my initial
impressions. I've had it for about a month now, and thought I would
report how I feel about it. These comparisons are between the analogue
outputs of both Transporter and SB2, both connected directly to the
power amps of a pair of ATC
I've never owned 24/96 recordings, but now have the Best of Audiophile
voices collections, as well as a few others.
I have the Transporter connected to the balanced inputs im my Anthem
AVM50 pre-amp and am running 2 channel direct. I do have the option to
change the sampling rate to 96Khz.

On another note I bought a welborne labs squeezebox linear power supply.
i just came across that last night... it looks pretty similar to the
other ones on the market, for better or worse (a little of both
actually). but the price, while still too high IMO, is more

Not so. The ALWSR (which we sell on Andy's behalf)

No, but:

as if that weren't bad enough, they throw in some total faux pas warned
against in said datasheet, like putting a 2 meter wire between the
regulator and load (squeezebox), or adding undamped designer film

the line when exposed

Rummaging around I found a regulated linear power supply 1200ma with
variable output from 1.5, 3, 4.5, 6, 9 and 12 volt dc. I am using it
with my sb3 set on 4.5 volts. Is this worth using? Should I be looking
for a much better power supply? It sounds fine, possibly slightly
better than the stock
Earlier in the thread someone mentioned removing C43 and C45 capacitors
at the very least to improve the sound. I did this to my SB2 and now
of course no sound. I am assuming this is done to improve the quality
of the digital output in that case ? Is there anything I can do to
restore the
Thanks Dave. Your correct, I thought analog-dsp settings worked with
analog-direct. Changing the rate is only available when using the
analog-dsp mode, which I learned I don't want since I want to take
advantage of the Transporter dac.
I'm still learning about the two channel/Slimdevice
I'm wondering if anyone has had experience using these converters? Two
that I've read about here and there are:

And the oddly less expensive but more versatile:

Get rid of a squeezebox? ARE YOU MAD?
Where will the poor thing go?
I'm seriously considering reporting you to SBPS (SB protective
services)
The sheer audacity of proposing this on these forums will keep me up
all night.

You can try a homeplug solution. ie running ethernet over mains power.
Says its good up to 14mbs but I'm sure YMMV. My brother uses it and
well, it works.
10mbs should be plenty for streaming lossless but as far as sound
quality and running it over main power I'm not sure. I wouldn't think
it

4608 is right (96000 * 24 * 2). I have one 24/96 DVD-A that I ripped

if the downsampling happens in the SB3 or at the server though. I'll
do a sound comparison soon, once I have ripped in the CD

You didn't need to remove the caps, just the opamp itself. But then you

i don't know which caps you are referring to but it sounds like you've
removed the output coupling

BUT, i am just taking a guess here, i do not know what C43 and C45 are

It looks like c43 is part of the 9v power to the opamp.

No, I won't get rid of the Squeezebox. It's nice to have. I can
imagine having it hooked up to the computer (a foot of ethernet or
whatever) and using it as an alternate interface. I can also see just
using it in the bedroom.
For my primary system, though, I don't want to have to worry about
