Yep, the Etymotics can be a little annoying to begin with, but I spoke
with their Tech Support about my problem and they provided me with some
different sized tips for the IEMs and they fit just perfectly now and
are very comfortable...this is why I can sleep on a plane for over

the SB3's clock to my DAC.
I already changed the spdif RCA connector for a BNC connector and
bypassed the inductors.
I would also like to take the spdif signal directly from the 74HCU04

whether you encode mp3 or flac, you still first rip to WAV, and then encode
from there.

I do not think the very approach is correct: you liked more bass from
your particular PC configuration, which by no means should lead to a
conclusion that PC as a source is better then SB, or vice versa. The
only possible conclusion is that you liked sound of your soundcard in
your PC better.
