You could also just download inguz's plugin and use that to turn up the
treble.

The other day a friend said to me Well, I'm not an audiophile like you

This got me thinking, because I don't think I'm an audiophile - more a
music lover who likes good quality sound. I have (a very healthy)
cynicism of the claims made

Interesting.
I would certainly listen to less music given both choices.
Perhaps akin to acquiring a taste for eggplant, I would choose
That's a nice approach, but I'm fear that any audiophile, even the most
hardcore care for music enough to answer 2...

There isn't enough information in your post to give a sensible answer.
What are you listening to the SB3 through? If you haven't arrived at
your perfect loudspeaker yet, I would put the $300 in a savings account
for that.
Over time I've come to appreciate the SB3 is a good player.

Option 2 without a doubt.

Question:
Tagging and iTrax...I'm exploring whether we should add an option to the
profile section of the site to ask how verbose the user wants the
tagging of the content. We've been talking internally about this
because it becomes quite an issue with a long title. Take for example

Everyone has a different answer. IMO the best you can do is put a
reasonable amount in the standard tags (artist, album, title etc), and
stick the rest into the Comment tag. People who care will fill it out
as they like.

I hope that I am a fully recovered audiophile that is now a music lover.
I remember buying many CDs that sounded good though I hated the music.
Steve Winwood and Anita Baker (I was in my last years of High School and
early College) come to mind.
I am also trying to recover from being a purist
I've recently purchased the squeezebox, which I am really enjoying.
However, I don't seem to be getting the oomph that I hope that I
would when using it. My system is pretty simple- McIntosh MA6500
integrated amp and BW 804 Nautilus speakers. The squeezebox is hooked
up through the analog

Rather than distort things greatly, I would start with the Inguz room
correction system.
It's less of an EQ, and more of a room repair setup.

Hah, I think I'm option 2.. Sometimes I happily put on low quality
pandora streams just so I can listen to some good music.
I guess I have what I would call a water line where I'd rather not
listen to music at all.
Things that will make me turn off the music:
* Car tape adapters
* Car FM
