I dont have a Touch, I use a WOO Audio GES as the amplifier and a naim DAC fed by a mac mini. Its true, the Stax are very revealing, but the 4040's are also forgiving, so I doubt you will have issues with the touch, as I assume you will be buying an outboard dac later on... the 006t is an OK amp,

The SRS-4040 is priced at Euros 1260 (new) or 890 for a used set... I don´t know if I should worry about buying a used set, from what I understand STAX deliver good quality equipment. When it comes to vacuum tubes I understand they have to be replaced after some time. The used set I´m looking at

From a technical standpoint it makes sense. Since mp3 doesn´t store its data in a given bit depth, decoding to higher bit depths can´t hurt. Slimdevices even used it for marketing: MPEG decoding uses MAD software, widely regarded as the most accurate, most compatible MP3 decoder, High accuracy
