I have Raising Sand and it plays perfectly as-is without any
re-encoding..

Just done a search on HDTracks for Raising Sand but could not find
anything listed. Is this the name of an Album? Who is the artist?

Michael,
You are playing the 24/96 version? Which transporter firmware version
are you running?

Audacity is a pain sometimes... must remember to convert to WAV
first...
I'll put replacements up soon...

You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it
ain't what you'd call minimal...
Touch(wired/XP) - TACT 2.2X (Linear PSU) + Good Vibrations S/W - MF
Same issue via the analog outputs?
Dont have raising sand, but a number of other albums from hdtracks.
Never had any issues at all with the TP connected wirelessly.

Running the 84 firmware here on 7.5.2... wishing someone could just
hack that filter setting into this for a quick compile before 7.6 is
stable enough. Pretty please??? :-)

Been looking for the simplest and most accurate way for HDCD to FLAC. I
have dbPowerAmp which will do HDCD to 20-bits.
After this, I assume you raise the volume to shift it 4-bits left to
normalize to the full 24 bits? How is this best done, how many dB
amplification is this? If I stack DSP
AFAIK all the HDCD decoders work exactly the same as they have the same
source. What 4 bits you mean? If there are 4 bits zeroes they are the
lower 4 bits that are drown in the noise floor. You may be able to
amplify the resulting files by some dB. Sometimes even 1 bit, 6dB. But
this is a lossy

Thanks I'll have a look again. I thought somehow that the decoded
output was the upper 4-bits being 0, hence the need to amplify.
Wasn't there also some issue with the 6 DB preemphasis?

In theory you could lower the volume by 24db/4bit without loosing data,
but

Never heard about a 6dB de-emphasis issue!?
De-emphasis is applied like an equalizer to the highs. Sometimes when
lowering the highs with de-emphasis the overall level
To my understanding dbpoweramp converts HDCD to 24 bit. 4 bits of
nothing. You can go from there.

OK, I downloaded 24/96 files for the 1st time. (I know, where have I
been?)
I finally got MAX and converted flac to aiff so I could use iTunes(yes,

Thanks guys.
This is all very strange. My tranporter is hard wired, but on what
could be an oldish version of firmware(77).
I will try to dig further.
