Wombat; Thanks for pointing me at Sox. I haven't yet figured out where
it fits in the chain but learning is half the fun. I am hoping though
that someone knows how to convince Squeezebox Server or the Touch's
firmware to do this without adding any plug-ins or outside programs.
Pski, Daverz; I'm
Google "the hitchikers guide to meridian" , there is a great meridian

When I broke a eprom in the DVDA player with a failed fw load they just

The link you sent has a link to the manual for the receiver. It has
what it calls a "direct" mode for stereo but the description ("shortest
path" as "close to the original") is not 100% clear. If "direct"
bypasses the DAC in the pioneer (which is what I *think* the manual is
saying), this is what

Good point, well presented! Hadn't considered that; I'll look for
... on that well-known auction site in the UK.
Paid £460.
Boxed, with manual, remote, antenna still sealed (never used). Couple
of scratches, but otherwise ok.
Item number: 220820525076
Cheapest I've ever seen one go for in the UK.

not sure about the UK, but many here recommend bluejeans cable for high
quality at a fair price. I'm a happy user (I have RCAs, balanced
cables, and a few S/PDIF cables, all from them).

Hi guys, I need a bit of advice on cabling!
I'm a long-standing Slim Devices user (still got a few SliMP3's in a
box somewhere... from back in the days of setting Perl up
manually...!). Currently running about a dozen outlets (3 Booms, the
rest SB3's).
I've just acquired a Transporter today (ori
Why not move the listening chair so it's on the speaker axis?

You may have a look like some use sox on a server for upsampling. You
can use sox in that way for adjusting volume and there is even the
"delay" option that from doing a quick look into the readme works on
seperate channels.

As yours is a pretty specific question about an expensive model that few
here own and you've spent quite a lot of money with Meridian, may I
suggest you ask the Swedish distributor? While they may not know, they
will certainly know who at the factory to ask. Part of buying high end
products is the

Without the Inguz EQ plugin, I wouldn't have been able to use this area

Thanks, John and lintweaker!
This is now working great in my rcS file (hardcoded as I have all
Soundcheck's mods, only 1 jive_alsa process, and don't use external
devices)
chrt -f -p 93 11
chrt -f -p 91 5
chrt -f -p 44 367
chrt -f -p 87 407
sleep 10
jalsa=`ps -C jive_alsa -o pid=`
chrt -f -p 55
Thanks for sharing HumanMedia... I will try spdif 40 with jive_alsa at
55 for a day or two :-)

Brilliant!
Thanks JohnS and Lintweaker.
Thats script works for me.
Although my variant sets spdif to my new preferred value: 40
Yep no change at all to spdif!
This sounds the most natural, organic and right.
And even with a spdif at 40 jive_alsa at 55 sounds better
I also keep the usual:
chrt
Works in my Touch... Thanks

yep, changing the prios of the IRQ stuff seems to be working when the
commands are put directly in rcS after the last command. Putting a
little sleep (10 secs) make the jive_alsa commands work too.
This is how my rcS file look now (only the last bits):
