A new DAC would give the most difference in sound , and most likely
can better the inbuilt dac , I use an Emotive DAC on my transporter and
my Touch , neither of the inbuilt dacs are great to ME...

Hi folks.
TT 3.0 - the tool - is ready for release now.
I got all the little issues fixed.
I now need to do the documentation stuff.
It'll take me a day or two.
Over the weekend I re-introduced
* the 100% volume lock mod,
which some of you might have tried earlier (TT beta-blog).
I thought
I'm very happy with my Touch+Rega DAC.
I've had the SB Classic before, and when I bought the touch I was
suprised how much better it sounded, using its digital (coax)out into
a DAC.
I did not have the Rega then, and I did not have the duet, but still I
suspect if you would get the Rega first,
Personally I would go for the touch but after that look at the amp and
speakers rather than the dac. I was looking at kit at your price level
recently and after listening to various source, amp and speakers choose
to spend the money on the amp and speakers. I could hear way more
difference there

I'm in break-in mode with these. The 18w8531 woofers are astonishing
for their size. Dense Air (Eno - Drums Between the Bells) shows that
a sub-woofer is optional.
I am in the process of upgrading my Linkwitz Plutos to the 2.1 version,
http://linkwitzlab.com/Pluto/Pluto-2.1.htm. New drivers are installed
(see picture attached). Waiting for the upgraded amp/crossover from my
brother (who can actually solder). These should seriously upgrade my
speakers from
Oops, here is the picture of the Plutos.

I had, for many years, connected to my DAC with a Canare-sourced coax by
Have. It sounded fine, I thought. But reading this thread got me to
think of trying a Toslink connection. Being cheap, I first tried an
Amazon Basic optical cable(about $8). I didn't expect much, but I was
astonished at how
Very nice. What finish are you going to use?

Nice job. I had some Newform Research speakers several years ago that
used the 7 Scanspeaks(they still do) for mid-bass, in conjunction with
their ribbons. Very nice speaker. Those cabinets look bullet proof!
Are you building the crossovers, using active?
