it might have to do with the jitter that is created as a FLAC file
is decompressed. I have converted some FLAC files to AIFF, rather than
ripping CDs, and the improvement is very noticeable.

and 320 kb/sec MP3 sound pretty much the same, well that
changes everything for me. I just got a new network drive (not used as
a NAS) with one drive mirroring the other. Looks like I'll have more
space than I thought.
