Has anyone an idea how to get this roll-off mode selection implemented?
It isn´t a bug report i can open but a feature request.
Maybe one of the knowing in here can comment if it is even possible?
This slow or sharp roll-off is affecting all sampling rates btw.

Regarding that it may be interesting that indeed the AK4396 of the
Transporter has two roll-off modes if i read the datasheet correctly. A
sharp and a slow one. Whatever that means exactly.
It can be set by a data
..for the SoX filters I gave links above I definitely heard the
difference
BTW, which filter is used by Transporter itself?

Yes, maybe - but only in the CD area.
I have PWD for a week (got from a friend)
I get somewhat bigger soundstage with PS Audio and more detailed
presentation than with Transporter, but with Transporter I get much more
precise bass and more focused sound (for better or worse)
With high-rez
I don´t understand Apodizing exactly. I guess it is applying a
resampling with a soft lowpass and no linear phase.
So it surely chnages the sound and can get rid o pre-ringing like even
a simple lowpass can. In the end it only smears and muddens the
original at a margin you can influence. I
Stock Transporter sounds really terrible on CD..
Only when I apply some filtering on the Squeezeserver, it sounds
better.

What sort of filtering?
R.
I have a lot of high-rez music, and
Isn´t the AK DAC in the Transporter converting everything to a DSD alike
bitstream anyway? I wonder what the benefit should be to mangle the data
once more.

I heard few Metronome CD and Esoteric with various speakers (hi fi

Well this type of filtering has been around for awhile. The DIY DAC
that AMB designed using the Wolfson 8741 which has selectable filters,
one will apply minimum phase slow rolloff which eliminates pre-ringing.
You can see trace outputs at his site http://www.amb.org/audio/gamma2/
and then
I had a PWD for about 2-3 weeks about a month ago
It is no where near a replacement for the TP as the bridge component is
basically vapourware right now and it's interface is unlikley to be
anywhere near the TP's
The PWD as a dac is not good , in more than 1 system it has exhibited
some strange
That Perfectwave DAC looks like a decent competitor to the Transporter

Current issue of TAS has a review on Meridian 808.2 CD player with

I would hardly consider TAS a good third party. They delibrately are
technology free. In that same issue, they write
Meridian owners are hoping and waiting that these new Apodizing filters
will come to Meridian preamp. Some get to enjoy it now with it built
into some of the DSP speakers and HD621 processor.
Those into standard DACs can enjoy the same technoligy in the Perfect
Wave DAC. It's cool to see this
