There is some jitter embedded into the source recordings. This was an issue when CD first started. These days, (generally) we can ignore jitter in the recording. Anyway we can't do anything about it. Jitter in the replay chain is possible from a wide variety of sources/causes. Transport, cable

Thanks Chinanico. Been doing some more research on audio Jitter verses because it appears the syntax in this discussion is different than the context in which I understand the term. In my world, Jitter refers to more of a timing/latency issue, normally created by clocking issues or within the

I did say my knowledge of clocking in audio signals was weak so thanks for the links. Sonet, more my thing although its an older technology but we still use it for some of our transport rings. However, demonstrating 'how' an effect can be made still does not prove that the measurement of the

My current (source) set-up: SB3 (wireless), with/without inguz room correction, a cheap toslink to an external DAC (Audiomat Maestro). All in WAV. The sound is not as good (to my liking, ie musical, detailed, etc...) as with my CEC TL51X transport (Taralabs air 110 digital AES cable), and I

Chinanico, I would invite a friend round and do a little blind test. Your impressions might alter when you don't know which is playing. It is possible the differences will become surprisingly subtle (or even that your preference will reverse). This might achieve what you want for no money.

If you already believe bits are bits, as I do (some will argue) then you have already answered your own question. None of those options will help except in a placebo manner. Some will argue but my view is.. I doubt your power supply is causing an issue because you are, as you say, transferring

The Altmann gear is not snake oil - try it and see. I'd personally stick an Altmann UPCI in first (rather than the Jisco) as that will inject a new clock right at the DAC input (ie after the cable). I use the Jisco followed by the UPCI but that's over your budget. First and foremost, with $500
