Why not make a connection to your receiver from your USB port. You can

It can't be that simple. Don't you have to install special
Thanks for the info. I am going to go for the SB3.

You wrote that you had an RCA connection between your computer and your
receiver. I am assuming that this is an analog connection, not SPDIF.

I recognize the inherent issues with Toslink, but I agree that these

Best way to answer the speed of access problem is to try it out -
download slimserver and softsqueeze. Point slimserver at your existing
mp3 collection and you will be able to see exactly how it works with a
library of that size.

Slimserver used all of that, but when there were other things going on
then my total memory usage often got up to 700MB or more. Memory is

I reckon that amp will probably convert A to D and process/upsample, so
you may not get any improvement moving from an SB3 to a Transporter.
Where you will get an improvement is moving from MP3 to FLAC, and
making sure you connect digitally.
I'd buy an SB3 if you don't have one already, spend

That is a fine receiver, I had the Integra 8.2 in my main system before

Quote from Integra web site For analog sources, the direct/pure audio
mode can bypass all digital processing for super-high sound quality. I
believe your receiver has this mode so you can bypass the internal dacs.

P Floding - I just read that section of the manual as well. Its not
