Tomsi, the foam insulating pads you're using, where did you get those? Would they outperform the superspikes?janOn 10/10/06, tomsi42

Some of the choices you'll have to make are:
1. Whether to go digital out (single digital coax s/pdif cable or
toslink optical s/pdif connection) to the Denon and use the Denon's
internal DACs (digital-to-analog converters), or go analog out (left
and right analog rca-type cables) to the Denon,

2. Cables. You'll need to choose interconnects (digital or analog) and
speaker cables.
Lots and lots of argument on how much of a difference these make.
Personally, I've found both to make significant differences in clarity,
tonal balance, bass quality, and
If you're going to do any of the suggested then make sure you check
whether or not you can actually tell the difference with some blind
listening tests. If you can't tell the difference there really is no
point spending the cash :)

I installed a system last year using a Denon AVR3805 and a MA Radius
4xR90, 1xR180, 1xR360 SW - with an SB2 for music.
Personally, I couldn't hear any great difference between the SB2
analogue or digital outputs feeding the AVR3805. I just used the stock
phono cable that came with the SB2,

Hi there

Forget expensive cables.
People better informed than I have said that the basic 12 gauge

At virtually no cost, I'd say probably worth a try.

Thanks to jon for the comprehensive answer!!

My budget has been pretty much stretched already as I had originally

No prob.
With a limited (or close-to-nil) budget, I'd prioritize finding a
linear power supply, and getting some reasonably-priced cables to
replace what comes with the Denon. I don't think too many people would
disagree that the speaker cables that come with the HT receiver aren't
going to cut

Can these be purchased off the shelf? Or do they have to be built?

Can be purchased online. There are a bunch of threads here that

sources up).
They generally run about $40. It's possible the only ones still
available (the company apparently discontinued them) will need to have
