Maybe you can buy a nice used pair, so that you can resell without much loss. Try both... I have hd-600's and think they're great but can't comment on grados as I don't own any. -Dan -- dwc dwc's Profile:

I've had both a decent pair of Grados and currently use Sennheiser HD600s. They both sounded great, but after 45min of using the Grados the edges of my ears were raw. The Sennheisers are like like wearing fluffy bunny clouds on your head, and they sound amazing. I use them for monitoring

A tiny thing about the sennheisers, but a big one for me: The wires actually plug into the cans. The wires are quite long, so you'll probly step/trip over them, roll over them with your chair, whatever. If your walking with the phones on and you step on the cord, they just unplug from the

I prefer the rs-1's, but as the other person said, they are so different that you really will need to hear them both. Importantly, both need amps to sound their best (and different amps at that -- grado's want current while senn's want voltage). Without an amp, you are throwing away you money.

I understand that I will not really know unless I try them, but it's getting to be nearly impossible to find places to audition headphones. Right now I'm leaning toward the Grado's. -- nelamvr6 nelamvr6's Profile:

I use a pair of Grado SR80s when I travel. I started with a similarly priced pair from Seinheiser and didn't care for them at all, but I have not made a direct comparison of the higher priced units. The Grado can be a bit uncomfortable for long listening sessions, but I haven't had any problem
