It's very compact, and is under 2000. The separate versions are getting
great reviews. I've got a McCormack DNA .5 and Classe 5 that I've been
using for years, and I'm planning on ditching them and getting the bel
canto when it comes out (probably the one with the built-in dac, since
it isn't
Just an update:
First, I wanted to again thank everyone here for their help. This is
one of the best forums I have ever read.
I went to a not so local (5 hours away)hifi shop
(http://www.lettherebesound.com/index.html)and auditioned both the
Cyrus 8vs and the Naim Nait 5i. To my ears the

Hi there,
I have had (and have) a number of amps and a common question is what
difference does it make.
I upgraded from an AV receiver (Yamy/Denon had both) to a Cyrus 7 (now
8vs). Then I upgraded my main room to Classe Cp2100 (see
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=19817page=23)
I got a Cary SLI-80 on AUdiogon for 1600. I upgraded the tubes for $300.
I have had a lot of visiting amps come show their stuff in my room with
a wide price range. Nothing touches the SLI-80. It is liquid love. I
play it in ultra linear mode, which gives a measured 70watts per
channel. Bass is

What other equipment is (or will be) in your system?
A set of Wharfdale Diamond 8.3 floorstanders connected with Analysis

The room everything is in is about 700sqft, open, made with cement
block (loft), and has a 10ft (cement block )ceiling.

Hello Blah:
Why an integrated? If you buy a good and not too expensive preamp and a
reasonably priced amp you might end up with a better system. You also
have the possibility of using a tubed pre and a solid state amp which
gives you even more options and upgrading portions of your system in

I'm not sure the price/quality ratio is any better. My understanding
is that integrateds tend to be cheaper than the equivalent
Sorry Mike - couldn't resist myself. My wife and I share a Honda CRV

You might like the Sugden A21SE - yes it's only 30 watts (but who really
cares about watts these days?) - but it is class A (nice) and we all
know that 30 class A watts are worth at least 100 AB watts! (any guitar
player will know exactly what I'm talking about)

People like me, with inefficient speakers! My 4 ohm Magnepan 1.6QRs
have a sensitivity of about 86db at 500hz and 2.83v. I *need* those
watts -- at least 200w/channel -- if I want my amp to have any kind of
authority.

I am looking to buy an integrated amp, not a super audiophile edition
but a decent integrated for around 1500 -2000 (US $). My preferred

is down beat electronica + classical.
Any suggestions?

I believe the following are all worth considering:
Musical Fidelity
Sim Audio
YBA
Creek
Krell
I've also read good things about the Cayin, Primaluna, and Opera stuff
in that price range. If you can stretch a bit more (2500-ish used),
the Levinson 383 is the best I've personally heard under
