the stax headphones are the best in the world, but only when you have
the right audio gear associated with these cans. to make your stax cans
sing, you must use a good preamp. my first stax cans, the preamp i used
was accuphase c-2800. it is a great amp and did well with the stax
cans, but very ex

Your experiences with the power supply, and the Wav-Flac comparison is

The power supply can cause interference in other audio gear, thats what
causes some to report huge benefits in sound, o

Annie - apologies if my reply seemed overly defensive - it is just
having used Stax for so long I use them as my reference for what is the

Hi - I have had Stax headphones for at least 20 years, in this time I
have had New SR3s, SRX, Lambda Pros and Signatures. Powering these have
been SRDx, SRM1 Mk2 & SRM-T1s. I have kept the latter two of headphones
/ Drivers the others going to friends. If I ever want to really listen

Eh, which amp did you use with Senn 650 ?
I had the Stax Signature II system, srm-006t and SR-404, and I just
sold it, and bought Senn 580 Precision.
These Stax where of course world class in resolution, but, they were
very bright ! Looking at a frequency curve you will see why, at

Thanks - these are very interesting experiences. Sadly my phones have
not yet arrived (hopefully tomorrow). If they do indeed sound like
ESL's on your ears I will be very happy!
I'm not a fan of Grado's (heresy I know but I find them rather
tiresome) - and Sennheiser 650's left me rather "cold".

When I was younger, I remember dem'ing a pair of Stax Lambda pro. At
the time, they were awesome.
A couple of years ago, I looked seriously at ditching my speakers/amp
and going with just a CDP and headphones. Based on previous
experience, I went straight out to try some Stax.

I know nothing about the current model Stax phones, but I've got a pair
from about 1975 (the SR5) that are still going strong and I just love
'em. Very airy, ethereal sound with great clarity. Not overly bass
heavy, but you know it is there. Don't know that they'd be real good

...when we used to sell them in my hifi retail days. They were, at the
time (late 80s), THE definitive headphones. They utilize electrostatic
drivers, which means they're extremely revealing (think Martin Logan CLS
wrapped around your ears). Indeed, I recall a lot of the guys in the

I just ordered some basic Stax Earspeakers on a whim - anyone got any
experience of these? (I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Sennheiser/AKG/Beyer man
myself...)
They should arrive tomorrowSRS2050MkII
