The Q303 sound is very similar to the QII amps, but with more firm bass
oompf. I would recommend it if you want a "tube" sound.
They are a bit old now so a refurb is necessary. There are different
options here.

Think Copland have integrated amps with valves.

A Squeezebox feeding a Quad 303 Power Amp or a 33/303 Pre and Power Amp
would be a nice project.

This is Quad's first transistor setup, and much sought after.
Try that instead, Carp.

Lucky boy, but without the matching power amps it's getting you nowhere
- it's powered from a power amp!
You can still find complete sets

I think I still have an original Quad pre-amp in the attic.

Why would you want a tube (valve) amplifier except for nostalgia?
They add harmonic distortion - maybe of the sort we like.
They cost a lot more.
They may need more maintenance.
Is that Audioheaven box a hybrid with the work done by solid state
components and a valve thrown into the signal
Why?
The Tannoy D100s arent anything special and certainly dont need a 2000
Euro amp to perform properly.

No, its not to simple. But we all do not know what sounds good to you and
therefore the best would be if you go to one or more dealer and listen to
different tube amps. Or
Hi folks,
can anyone recommend me a tube amp? Maybe my question is too simple...
I would like to connect a Squeezebox to it, maybe a turn table, too. I
do not want to spend more than 2000 euros/dollars and it should be a
single device (not a pre-amp/amp combination). My speakers are a pair of
