I am reminded by the references in this thread to the (alleged)
Almighty, of someone I worked with many years ago, who thought that the
beauty of Microsoft Windows was proof of the existence of God. And that
was Windows 98!

After looking through the thread I'm sad to say that bit perfect can not
be improved upon. In other words, no software or hardware has the
ability to make the one and zeros of a digital file more one or zero
like. Now if only the so called experts in the high end audio press
would get their heads

There is no place for infidels on this forum. The arrow has already

I would not go as far as to call Philips a "God".

This is what makes a good DAC, with multiple inputs, such a good

If you've got a decent DAC I bet that you will not be able to tell apart
the 18$ CD player from a 28.000$ CD player in a double-blind test. Yes.
But then I know, you can't trust your ears in double-blind tests, the
ears have to know what they are expected to hear to work properly

This is why the only thing I tweak these days is the amount of herbs
and spices I put in my food. Also the quantity and quality of the beer
that goes with it. :-)

Being a long time member of the this forum I am fairly certain that
taken as a group the members of this forum are very knowledgeable about
digital audio. And they are also fans and users of the various
Squeezebox devices as way to listen to digital audio. With that in mind
I would like to try and

It means that a given sequence of bits on a CD will result in the exact
same bit sequence being fed into the DAC, even after going through the
processes of ripping, storing/encoding, and streaming.
