I'd rather look after the debris from some out of date wind generators than that from an out of date nuclear reactor ! I think wind farms are quite beautiful. Sort of dynamic sculptures... Cheers, John G. - Original Message - From: "Mike Borgelt" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED

Hi As people know, I fly a Nimbus 2c (Alice in Wonderland). I and my partner are looking to take Alice to the multi-class nationals in NSW just after Christmas. In the previous, unhandicapped multi-class nationals, Alice would have been able to fly in the 18m class, in deference to the age of th

Surely beauty is in the eye of the beholder Mike. Haven't seen the particular site you mention but the Aussie wind gen farms I have seen look OK to me. A bit like most man-made objects - the design aesthetics seem to be the key to acceptance or not. I rather like the look of modern coal fired po

Is there a good model within the Aussie club scene for a "combo club" which caters for both ends of the time/money spectrum - and those in the middle? The AEF's at our club are an important cross-subsidy element and has funded our fleet establishment from zero to useful in five years. (Upgrade nex

Mike, Its the tubine tower (coal power station) - something about the shape I guess. Agree on the environmental side. As for Texhachapi, the fabricated towers do detract but still find the visual fascinating. The Mojave2 photo takes the cake for me (link). http://www.windland.com/Wind_Turbine_G

Mike, you make some interesting points. Is this the type of scene you are alluding to (Tehachapi)? http://www.schweich.com/imagehtml/0022_3291_2725_50.html Or does it get worse than that? The difficulty with windfarms to me is the spoiling of the horizon view for such vast surrounding beautiful ar

Robert, Did you happen to see the last Aus Soaring magazine, where the new multi-class handicapping is introduced. Mention is made of dividing the fleet into two (as yet un-named) classes. Perhaps this is done at the comps at an arbitrary point to simply separate the fleet into two logical groups
