I agree about the danger of Gaggles before the start. You don't have to participate but you will miss the opportunity to fly with the group if you do not. I do not like them and prefer to make my own start. Also agree with the idea of a finish line with a safety height eg 1000 or 1500 ft above

That is a very good question! The GFA MOSP calls for a list of records flown in Australian by Australian Pilots, and a list or records flown anywhere in the world by Australian Pilots. There should be two separate lists, and this could well be an old error that you have spotted. Does anyone

I fell in love with soaring in that glider, N131SS GV. George flew the 1000k on the Appalachian ridges of Pennsylvania. He wrote the introduction for Tom Knauff's 1981 book Ridge Soaring The Bald Eagle Ridge about that flight. The book may not be available in Australia. Jim
