Sadly, whilst it was great to see a new glider on the air, nothing can be taken
from the comp in terms of potential performance. The 20m class had far more to
do with the pilots than the gliders. The Jones brothers would still have won
flying a DG505!
I got to see it close up for a short

Standard class definitely seems to be better at high speed.
750kg AUW in 20m class probably doesn't help them either, or at least not
with 16sqm of wing.

Hi All,
Speaking as an Arcus pilot for a year, the comments of Matt Gage re performance
are spot on. The two seaters and this includes the big wings such a Nimbuses
and Ashes, all with their large fuselages, just can’t perform at speed when
compared with the better ballasted single seaters,
That rear instrument panel leaves a lot to be desired

Is the wing area wrong in that document or the polar? Because
800kg/15.38sqm (52kg/sqm) does not match the 800kg @ 46kg/sqm on the polar.

Thanks for that Matthew. The 52 is correct. I will advise the factory about the
polar/weight number on the brochure.
Cheers

Designed to take just the 9000 display. The photo is a demo cockpit built for
the last AERO show. It is a work in progress.
Cheers
