supported out of the box. It would be great, if someone could get
me started on how to go about implementing this:

- the main layout: similar to the `tiled' layout, but only the master
area should be visible. No additional columns.
You can use the 'max' layout which does exactly that.

I am new with Awesome. Great work!
I have two questions: 1) Could you recommend a WIFI setup application

Thanks!

Are you with Arch?
If so http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wireless#Management_methods is the
place to go. This isn't really the place to ask about general applications.
You can create a graph widget for battery status,

That would only show one window, but I want to see more than one.
Do you want just one column with horizontally tiled windows?

Is this somehow possible with awesome wm 2?
And is it possible with awesome 3?

Awesome uses combo like:

I guess this should be just a function and a matter of applying rules.

This will allow a maximum of flexibility. We can regroup two or more
clients into a wibox and arrange it with a layout, this is simple
sublayout. Titlebar can be heavily customised. This solution seems
very flexible to me. I love it :-)

There's 2 options:
1. add .layout as you say.
