Re: Maria Isabel da Silva
The information you provided in your message allowed me to find my
grandmothers passport registration dated Oct. 5, 1900-1902 livro 1 277.
She is
the first one listed on the page. Her brother Francisco Furtado traveled with
her. They arrived October

Cheryl,
Baptisms not yet complete for all 9 islands (just so you and others
know...it's still a work in progress).
1) Go to: http://pg.azores.gov.pt/drac/cca/ig/
2) Right column: Click Registos Paroquias (Parish Registers)
3) Next window lists what is currently available. Click on the council
Hi Lexi,
I wrote that generic letter. You already have the address. Just delete the
last line of ZIP and City. The ZIP is 9500 and the city is Ponta Delgada.
The address was way up on page one. It looks like the HTML formatting put
the word date in the address on the form letter on the last
Ok, I'll try it. It appears that the hyperlink only used part of the url
(its 2 lines).
Thanks

I am researching JOSEPH FRANCIS BRIO, JOSEPH FRANCIS, or JOSEPH BRIO..
Could also be BRAIO
He was born in Flores 1832
Came to America in 1854
Granted citizenship April 24, 1854 in Boston, Mass.
Came to Hawkinsville, Siskiyou County, Calif to mine for gold
Passed to eternity on July 3, 1901 buried
FRANCIS could have originally been Francisco which is normally a first name
but can be a surname. BRIO has me stumped. There is a surname Brindeiro on
Flores but it is rather unlikely (but not impossible) that it would have
been shortened to Brio. I'll have to think about that some more.
