John,
I don’t have much information about the Mirandas. Like I said, he was my
great grandmother’s second husband. The info I have is from their headstone,
cemetery records and census’. His first wife’s name was Maria 1856 – 1908.
He’s buried with both of his wives. The second wife is Roza Pach

I don't know the island or origin. But I am determined to find out more
information about Portuguese ancestors. My grandmother was Maria Lorencia
Soares (aka Mary Sears) (Oct. 23, 1883 - 1970). She was born in Cambridge,
Mass. Her parents were both from The Azores. Her father was Jose M. Soare
Thanks!! Diane

Hi Diane L,
You'll need to get it down to at least the island. The concelho (council -
like a county) or freguesia (village) is preferable. For a list of things
to do to get started, go here:

I'm going to try to give as much info as I have, and hope someone
makes a connection.
My grandmother was Maria Lorencia Soares - - aka Mary L. Sears (1883
-1970). She was born in Cambridge, MA. Her parents were: Jose
Machado Soares - - Born in The Azores 24 July 1833 - Died 12 May
1905. My gra
Diane L,
It's going to be hard to make an instant connection to someone who was born
as recent at 1883. A few people on this list have (very few), but it seems
like researchers need to go back about 200 years (around the 18teens) to
make a connection.
Machado is also Marshall.
How did you get t
Is this him?..Will info...
You can get a copy of the Will from the MA Archives in Boston. Can order
via email or snail mail. The cost used to be minimal...I am not sure if
that is still the case. Maybe it will give you some info?
