Adair, Most obits I get are from the newspaper collections at Ancestry. With the large East Bay Portuguese communities, the Oakland Tribune and the Hayward reviews turn up the most. You show six grandchildren from Manuel and Jennie on the Borba tree. Were you talking about another generation?

Tish, The Archives are for the Archdioses (sp??) of San Francisco. I beleive if your people had a child in Mission San Jose that is where you would need to search first. BUT, if San Jose and area were in the San Fran diocese early on, 1880 migh fit, you would just have to tell Mr. Burns at the
