Hi Pam,
I use FTM 2011 and I can't figure out how to change it so it WILL print just
male or female. There has got to be a setting somewhere. What version did
you upgrade from?

Pam and Rick,
I use FTM 2011, although I don't print trees very often. However, I think
the box and line styles settings under Pedigree Chart Options might be
the place to specify borders and colors for boxes for females and males.
This would be on your screen to the right of the actual chart,
Thanks, Eliseu. Our common ancestor is Luzia Vieira.
I notice you show Fulana for Pedro Esteves da Rocha Machado's spouse. Is
this an actual name, or just a word that means woman. I googled it and
got mixed results. All I have for Pedro's wife is that she was born about
1412.

Hi Nancy,
Fulana means someone female that we know that must exist but we do not know who
she is. The same goes to Fulano for the masculine.

Pam, I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to do, but you can customize
the boxes for all females by clicking the word females (under boxes in
the Box, Border and Line Options window) and then selecting a border color
and then a fill and shadow color, if desired. The default for all three of

Thank you both Marcio and Shirley..Very much appreciated.
Do either of you have any idea why it is that the further back you go in

Ally,
According to the 1957 Pleasanton phone book , there are no Furtado families
listed. The 1940 census also lists no Furtado in town. The 1930 shows
Manuel and Mary Furtado, children Mary born in 1926 in Rhode Island,
Edward, b. 1929, and John b. 1930 in California. It says Mary was born

There are 3 time periods of records. I'm doing this off the top of my
head, so the dates are approximate.
1st period: 1600s-1700s: The women are listed with surnames
2nd period: 1800s: The women are listed with their middle religious names
only
3rd period: The women have surnames.

No, if you find a baptism that says the baby was born to Manuel Martins and
Maria da Gloria, you go and find Manuel Maria's marriage. It will say
