Mike, I guess you would have to define what you mean by a woman first. But I'd say there was nothing typical about any immigration scenario. I've seen some with parents (I'd call them kids or teens), I've seen some with their husbands, with an older or younger SIBLING, alone, etc. My ancestor

When our family left the Azores, they came over in three groups, by way of the Hawaiian Kingdom. In the first group were my Great Grandparents and the older boys, leaving two of the younger boys with relatives. In the second group, were my Great Grandfather's older brother and his family
