 I found a Manuel Cardoza listed in the Mt. St. Joseph cemetery records in Hayward.  He died May 22, 1923 and was buried on May 23, 1923.  He was 85 years old.  No grave site is listed and no other information is listed in any of the records I have.   You may try to search the newspaper for

Eddie:  This shows a Catherine Cardoza buried in 1881 with husband buried in 1923 at Lady of Pillar in Half Moon Bay. If this is your Cardoza it would explain death in Hayward yet burial in Half Moon Bay in a pre-existing plot. Paperwork for either burial might have place of birth/baptism
