Paul, I see Mae de Deus after she is mentioned. I also see 25, however, I
cannot tell what it is in reference to. I would check the obits again
starting with March 1736 and work backwards. You could also look for the
first marriage.

Trying to find the parents of my 5-6 X g-grandfather Manoel Alvres. Below
is the link to his 2nd(?) marriage to Luzia Cabral (record on the left).
Where it lists his name I see Maneol Alvres viúvo Izabel da Costa, and
before Luzia's name appears to be 25 (vinte sinco). Would this mean Izabel
Thank you Julio and Shirley. Is there any way to get this in different
form? I am unable to read it or magnify large enough to read it. I tried
saving page, but it still too small.

It says he was disobligated and received his quaresma in the past year of
1725. This is a common format in that period. Manuel Alvares Bagango or
Baganza married three times. I would look for some children for all these
marriages to ensure this Manoel is the same person. He appears to have
The 10th line from the bottom is where it starts in with da Costa (for
Isabel's last name). buried (blob) in this (too light) Mae de Deus. The
best I can make out (with the light record and the light coming in this
window) is the she died in Povoacao at Mae de Deus. The next line start

On the bottom half of page 102, as pointed out by Julio, there is a
reference to:
"LOPO DÍAS, DA MAIA, MEU PARENTE"
Since this document was written in November 1511, can you please check your
family trees for this man being alive at this time. Who is? How is he
"related" to Joao Afonso exactly.
Oops, hit send by accident.
I think they were talking about the surname crashing into the palm-whatever
word.

I'm not sure if it's the correct Lopo Días, but I saw a reference in RR's
capitulo 162 to a Lopo Dias. If this is indeed the person that the
testament refers to, I'm still not sure how Lopo Días and João Afonso are
related.

Joe M,
You are correct, there is no name there. It says something about solmenly
in the presence of those in the eyes of the church...I don't translate the
church stuff. I look for the words "in faccia ecelesia" or something like
that. I believe that is Latin and the groom's name always follows
I once found a marriage in the morning. The child was baptised in the
afternoon.
