Cheri, I think you are correct. First, if you look at the auditor's signature (in the right hand corner) on the previous and following pages, it is clearly starts by going straight up. And second, the priest indicates words which are broken at the end of a line and continue on the next line

What about the 2nd line? im (could be "ins") e de Margarida de Jesus... What's the "im" or "ins" doing there? Yeah, I thought there was no godmother. My notes said Francisca da Santa ___. I think it was handwritten on a piece of paper and I put it on the wrong person! I did this work years ago

Kerry, Sounds like you have enough information to start. Sometimes the stated birth date was their baptism date. Sometimes they were off by a few days. Sometimes they were confused on the year, so look a couple of years ahead or behind the date. Also, Ribeira Grande has 2 churches. That is, if

Eliseu, I don't have any of your Medeiros combination. Aside from the 'simple' Medeiros. Direct lines are: Medeiros: Moniz, da Mota, Pacheco, Correia, Barbosa. I have Medeiros Sousa and Medeiros Tavares but they are from Agua de Pau. My data is not on line, stationed on my desktop, sorry.
