You all might need to know that Pat and Gil Amaral walked the Cemetery in
the late 1970's early 1980's so there are no names of people after that
date.

I found these in Ribeirinha, Terceira but I wasn't looking for a freguesia
called "Agua de Lupe" These are written by the same priest who perhaps
never heard of Nossa Senhora da Guadalupe.

Sorry Doreen but I only have what I got from that record because I do not
have this couple. As far as I know you and I still only connect distantly
in our shared Ribeirinha ancestry. One thing from the record I didn't
mention is that the groom was "disobrigado" for lent at the parish in Sao

Thanks Bill. Do you know anything else about this couple? I have another Manuel
Ferreira de Melo and Maria da Conceicao in my tree and wonder if they are the
same. If so it may explain some odd DNA results where a child has more shared
DNA than the parent. It may be that they connect through a o
Doreen, it’s true that some people do not document and that there are errors.
I found this to be true for both Ancestry and Family search. It’s frustrating
when you research and document and someone enters incorrect info in your line
even when the documentation is right there as a “Source”.
Thank you again, In the last few days I have had big break through on this
tree. Looking forward to sharing this the family. Doreen

Hi Doreen,
I believe the groom is Manuel Ferreira De Melo, son of Manuel Ferreira de
Melo and Angela Vitoria, native of Sao Jorge parish in Doze Ribeiras.
I believe I found the groom's parent's marriage here (left)

Tough record, but I came to same conclusions as Cheri including the date
and further confirmed the names of the parents in the Terceira Marriage
Index. I must be getting better at this.

Wow I can not believe my luck. I had been search the index and could not find
this couple. I decided to look at the marriage record of godparents of their
child . Was just trying to get my bearing in the records and my first click was
the page for the couple I was actually looking for…lucky me.
If I contribute to that site, I always attach the record, but yes, a lot of the
information is wrong or they have the same children twice with two different
dates, etc. But it may give you some hints to verify on your own.

I have seen that all the time on Ancestry. Ive looked on Family Search
because someone claimed the info was well documented but in the little
investigating I’ve done there I don’t see where it’s any better than
Ancestry. (I may be wrong!)

hi E,
Yes, last year when I went down to New Bedford, I found the office at
another location an they gave me directions to the plot for my grandparents
at St. John's.
Chery, I'd definitely love to buy a copy of the book! thanks for looking
into it!

You are right, Cheri, no documentation is required and that is the big
problem. People just put stuff in and if there is a 'clue' about another
name to add, they just do it without verifying. Just be careful what you
add to your tree, Doreen!

Thank you for the insight. This is how misinformation continues to get spread.
I need new leads to trace so I will use what I can for a new direction in my
research but will need to be careful. I will verify and document.

Isn't that their "One World Family Tree?" They tried to merge all their

correct information. No documentation required. I won't be submitting my

These entries are put in by many people and if they are not really
genealogists, they just copy and paste what they find on other databases

I just started exploring the Family Search database. In one case I found
children older than their parents. In another case I found a death date but
