Ha! I understand that too, Cheri.
I'm having trouble reading the info in that link though. I see names.
There is a Marianna Ursula! Maybe some connection to the Americanized Marie
U. I have a death certificate for. Maybe she is a sibling rather than a
parent of my Great-grandfather, Joao Linhares.
You can keep on looking through the 1888 baptisms looking for another Joao
born to another Manuel Antonio Linhares.
That Marie U. Jacinto is a complete American thing. That's not her name.
The link I gave you on the basic genealogy...I have a section in
there...Who said it, when did they say it,

Ack! I misspelled it again! I'm so sorry. It was Jacinto, NOT Janinto.
I totally understand what you're saying about the spelling of the names.

LaRonda,
When you get into genealogy, you'll learn about primary and secondary
sources. I explain it a little bit in this link. https://goo.gl/dGG4Ar

Secondary sources: Something generated AFTER the event.

Hi Cheri.
Going on what you have provided me, I am cleaning up some errors. One thing *I
know for sure* (via her death certificate I have access to) is the
information for my Great-great grandmother:

Cheri, I appreciate your guidance. I'm an amateur at this, so this really

Pete J,
It depends on what you mean by "old." Some priests recorded the house
number (if it existed) and some did not. Some records (whether Sao Miguel
or other islands) clearly state "in a house without a number." I find the
name of the street more often than a house number. As I work back in tim

Hi all

My questions are:
Do the old São Miguel records list addresses?
How do all these separate family trees become patched together to determine
broader relationships?
Thanks for any consideration.

Bob C,
I'm not sure of the word after the father's name. It is capitalized. I
don't know if it's an alcunha or his occupation. Maybe someone else will
get it or another record will have it (and NOT hyphenated).
