I made it to Salt Lake!
To find Confession Rolls, go to Tombo.pt. Seach for your freguesia. Once
your freguesia comes up, Tombo.pt will display ALL records that the CCA
digitized for your freguesia. Cheri

Yes, all the villages have them. However, I think only some freguesias in
Graciosa and a couple in Terceira have them online. When the government
created the vital record system in 1910/1911 they were after birth,
marriage, death type records. So very few confession rolls were sent to the
WOW!!! I've heard of them but have never seen them. Do all the Islands and
Villages have them?

Oh ok. I just looked at that. I thought Praia was a part of an area called

Here's where Wikipedia refers to Praia in the context of Sao Mateus and
that "São Mateus was one of the first

Very well put Cheri. That should help clarify it for a lot of people.
Yes, sometimes they will put sections or areas of the village and sometimes
they will put street names and even path descriptions to describe where the

Christian,
Let's say you are moving to Omaha, Nebraska. You find an real estate agent
to show you some homes. First he shows you a home in the Conestoga part of

1800 to 1806 let me know. My ancestry research says he was from Feiteira,
Graciosa but that come up as Feteira, I think, on the Tombo.pt site and I
haven't had much luck. While I know his general info from his son's
Thank you, Rosemarie. Yeah, I'm getting this is going to be insane. I've

Christian,
It's almost a shot in the dark trying to match up just someone named Manuel
Machado. You need to find his marriage record and then his wife's death to
know if this could possibly be him. Also you need to do the search for all
of his children to try and match them all up. Is Rosa his
Hello all,
I've been buried in the confessional rolls of Graciosa trying to find my
ancestors Manual Machado (b.abt.1805), his son Francisco Machado, and his
son Jacintho Machado but last names are not often used. For example, the
following document seems like it could be my Manuel Machado and
