Hello Tish,
You are very kind and I do hold you in high esteem. I do understand where you
are coming from and come to think of it, it ends up being a mute point simply
because newcomers will keep to their own subject lines.
Regardless I'll keep at it.
Stay well, Tish

Hi Margaret,
You are among the elite in this group and have helped so many because of
your innate ability not only to translate, but to have such a complete
understanding of the church and the history of the islands. When I see your
name, or others from this elite group, I do open the email
Searches are based on subject heading first, so I think we should stick to
actual subject, such as names, translation, history, passports, etc. Then
if you think it may be beneficial, you can add hyphen followed by your
village/island. ex. Translation of Medeiros record, 1880 - Achada, Sao
Hey Jeremy,
I get it. But there are other ways, for instance the use of filters. These
can be set up to filter out what is not important.
Regarding "massive" mailing, forgive me but I haven't seen mass mailing here.
There are days where nothing is happening. Too quiet if I might add.

For the people who are working and can't read all the messages. Doesn't
matter to me, I read them all. Helps me learn something new. Like weird
names such as Nimfa. And public announcements that Joana said Bartolomeu
was the father of her baby (not sure if I remember their names).

Margaret,
I personally read most of the groups threads. Every once in a while though, I
do miss stuff. However, if someone put one of my main research islands in the
subject line, you can bet that I would open it because it would be of higher
relevance to me as a researcher. Even though I plan
Sorry but that doesn't make sense. If someone is looking for help I will
ignore it if the subject line states an island I'm not interested in? Is this
Group not named Azores. Why segregate it by island based on member preferences
rather then collective participation???

It most likely won't involve 2 islands. I think Tish was referring to
translation help. So the posted document would be from one island in a
particular freguesia. Every once in a while, a parent could be from another
island, so just list it.

Jeremy,
Great!
How about this if it involves two Islands (ex. Sao Miguel/Santa Maria)?

I totally agree with Cheri. The freguesia and the surnames (if you know
them) is a fine addition. So... the subject line might look like this:
* São Miguel, Ponta Garca, (surnames)*

That's a great Idea. Whenever I post something from now on, I will follow with

I agree with this, Tish. I have no one on Sao Miguel so I generally will
just ignore but I have to go into the body of the email to find out that
info! It really would be nice to put the Island name then village if
possible in the Subject line.

Researching Sao Jorge,
Great idea! And if it's a larger island, you might want to add the
freguesia and surnames too!

Hi,
I have a suggestion that might make all of our lives a little simpler.
On the Subject line: why don't we all start with the Island (eg. *Santa
Maria* translation), if applicable.
If everyone wants to read each email, that is fine, but some might prefer
to be a little more selective. We are
