About the shanghai "story", my ancestor had a similar one.we were always
told that my great grandfather, Jose de Sousa Pereira Mancebo, born
Beira/Velas, Sao Jorge in 1838 was shanghaied when he was sent down to the dock
to buy a fish.by pirates! In truth I found him on a whaling
