Just a note of interest on first names at baptism. Yes people are sometimes
baptised with two first names. However, it is rare. Where I have seen it is
with families that are wealthy or have important titles or positions. As
already noted, you seldom see two first names in the vast majority of
Hello there Cousin Pat. Sorry I was thinking you were the person Cheri was

Hi Pat,
Don't be shy next time. This is my family on my paternal/maternal side and
perhaps I could have saved you some time had you posted your question.
I'm not sure what you're looking at but do not confuse Zeferino with Jose
Zeferino. Zeferino born in 1794 is the father of Jose Zeferino who

Joseferino is my 3rd great grandfather. It took a very long time to find him.
I'll never forget that day. I was looking for Zeferino but just couldn't find
him. After looking at a lot of other certificates and searching for a year or
more , there he was. Zeferino was a JoseZeferino.

I've never seen a baptism where the baby has 2 names.
Like I said, the only way he will know is to collect all the children of
this couple and figure it out.

I agree with you Cheri, I did not see it before as well. I believe it was
added there a few minutes later, for some reason, as a family request, note
both grandmothers: Francisca.

It is a boy, Joze Francisco, abreviated as fr.co, I quickly looked at some
other records and filho is not usually abreviated as mentioned in other emails
and could have lead others to that direction. Not Zeferino.

That was my first reaction when I saw the baptismal record, was that it was
Jose Francisco. I have a lot of Francisco's in my lines I've seen that
abbreviation used a lot, but then I saw some of the posts thought maybe I
was wrong.
I would collect the other children see if maybe there
Looking even more closely might the name be Josefeo or if it is an a Josefea ?

He thinks it says Zeferino. I told him the only way to find out for sure
is to collect all the children of that couple. If no others are named
Zeferino, then that's his ancestor.

Now that you mentioned Zeferino as Joseferino, it makes sense to have just one
word, as usual, for the child. Thats the first time I see Zeferino as
Joseferino, never hard it before! Good to know.
