Margaret, I think you missed my post a couple of days ago. There was some confusion over whether there was one or two Miguel do Monte's in Achada. It turns out there were two, father and son, and both married women of the same name. The births from 1758 onward belong to the son and his wife.

What I did was to look through Ernesto do Canto Index for every MONTE I could find in Achada and Achadinha marriages (still doing Achadinha). So far I have found: - Achada: Miguel do Monte to (…?...) Furtado. From another marriage I learned that the wemen kept the mother name Furtado.
