Hi. I'm using BackupPC 3.0.0 to backup two identical Windows server which shares the whole file system to my linux server, and I access it using the SMB Xfer method. BackupPC connects correctly to the shares but after a while the backup hangs and I get this error: "Call timed out: server did not

id have to say that some platforms would be better either from a performance and features standpoint, or from a configuration standpoint. redhat/centos and ubuntu/debian platforms seem to have significantly less backuppc problems. i see a lot of gentoo issues though. it would be sensible to say

if you browse to the directory, prob /var/lib/backuppc/pc/hostname/ can you see a directory named 334?? if so the files are there, if not they are probably gone. are you using ext2 filesystem? if so look at this http://www.stud.tu-ilmenau.de/~mojo/undelete.html

Pool is about 108 GB. I already saw the system go down to a very very slow pace when trying the rsync everything. The backuppc folder is on the same partition as my samba shares so i rather not unmount it every night for backups. It depends how long it takes to backup 250-350 GB with dd.
