Thanks for this. More checking of something so critical as a backup is
always a Good Thing.
Alas, in my case it was my first backup that was stalling, so there weren't
yet any attributes collected.
I've now successfully collected a backup from the problem machine and it

The backuppc server should be isolated. Having any part of it run on the
webserver is not best practices. Im not saying it wont work, im saying you
shouldnt do it.

Hi everyone,
I have been following the discussions about using Linux md raid1 as a
way of creating an offline copy of the pool filesystem, which method Les
Mikesell seems to be a big proponent of.
I am about to try it out myself on an installation, where users will
connect an external harddri

Because of limitations of my NAS, I can only run user-space NFS (unfs)
on it.
When BackupPC has TopDIR set to the mounted (u)NFS share, BackupPC
ends up silently freezing at the start of a backup.
I traced the problem to issues with symbolic links. Specifically, with
the combination of the flags
I add an (empty) file named '-i' in several of my key Linux
directories to prevent inadvertent "rm *" calamities.
However, BackupPC doesn't seem to like this, giving me error messages
of form:

I am new to backuppc. I have installed it on fedora 9.

Ok,
I found the source for the ip problem.. it was my router. Reset the router
and the ip's now show the correct internal address... however, I know get an

I have reset the name on the host machine, and added the name to the
etc/hosts file, but
Did you use this url: http://localhost/backuppc
Try doing /etc/init.d/apache reload (or maybe it's /etc/init.d/apache2
reload)

Hi,
it's the first time that I install backuppc on a Debian server, everything
seems ok, I configure backuppc hosts file, when I use localhost or localhost_IP
on the navigator, it's ok, but when I would like to open backuppc

Dan, but what's wrong in having BackupPC on the Web server as long as it's
doing the backup to a different partition, allocated only for backup?
Thank you,

To date, for me, the most serious issue with BackupPC are never-ending
backups, caused by corrupted files.
I'm not sure what causes file corruption though (server crash, broken
network connection, interrupted backup, killed backuppc process,
something else)?
When BackupPC makes a backup, and a
