Do you know what that might indicate about the restore?
With regards to tar, I don't care much about the bandwidth, but the speed
of rsync would be very useful for the restores. I'll have a look at how
fast tar is over SSH.

I can't imagine a scenario when either of the devices wasn't running.
Everything is monitored via SNMP, so if something goes offline, it's

I want to move my BackupPC pool in to a loop-AES encrypted file system.
It's currently about 64GB in size.
Could anyone suggest the best way to go about moving the pool while
preserving hard-links etc?

I'm guessing you will need to use a file system supporting hard links.
AFAIK NTFS does not.
So I would change to ext3 (or XFS/Reiser?), but I'm not an expert, so
you might want to wait for another list member to confirm that before
you proceed.
