on the second point, yes, you can override the backup method in the host based config files. i use tar, rsync, and smb, depending on the host. as a more general question, what can be overridden and what cannot, in the machine based config files? are there any restrictions? specifically, can

I have been using backuppc to backup win-boxes onto a Linux server using cygwin rsync running on the win-boxes. Now I am trying to use backuppc on some Macs (OS X), but I am having difficulty get it to work. There have been some comments that rsync is not a good option for the Mac due to its
