From my limited experience with tapes, there are a couple utilities
that need to be run to make sure bacula can talk to the drive. One
utility will write to the tape checki

I have used Mondo/Mindi. I'm not sure there is a need to incorporate
Mindi into Bacula though. For one thing, Mindi will work only for Linux
and FreeBSD. For another, Bacula already has the hooks to incorporate
Mondo/Mindi through a RunScript directive in bacula-dir.conf. I have

Thank you very much for the quick/great respsonses. ;-) The disk
volume (required due to my lack of a second tape drive) introduces one
more question... After I am done bcopying from the disk volume to the
final duplicate tape volume, is it better to delete or disable the disk
volume? I ask t

Deleting a disk volume will not mean that it will then reuse that
number, so you will have a blank spot if that media no longer exists. I
think this answers your question, but I'm not 100% certain what it was
to begin with. :)

Is there any way to pause a job which is running and then restart it from
where it was paused without effecting anything. I am asking the question
because I am anticipating a situation where I might need to use the loader
for other purposes in between the time when a job is running.

I do know that in bcosole, you must mount the drive and then issue
label
to label the media mounted in the volume. Very similar with disc
backups if you aren't automatically labeling the volumes. Your choice
what to name it. Bacula will then use the newly created volume for
the backup job.

test" worked fine. Apparently I was too optimistic. See below for what the
beginning of "btape fill" looks like.

now but I can't find the command to browse a given catalog only. Isn't it
