Currently I have been converting these to proper spaces using find and
replace.
Is there a better solution to fixing these or getting rid of the
problem

What other apps are you copying from? What version of BBEdit are you using?

My solution is to highlight the block of pasted text, then pull down
'TEXT' and select the 'CONVERT TO ASCII' option.
